My Sweet, Tyrant Lycan Mate

Chapter Seven

Chapter Seven

Ten Days Remain

Lily’s POV

The Lycan King carried me into the pool and sat me down next to him in the water in a surprisingly gentle way. I was stiff, unsure as to what to expect next.

He ended up laying his head on my shoulder and it was then that I felt him exhale a deep breath as his body began to relax.

Without moving an inch, my eyes observed his chest rise and fall in a steady rhythm. It was surprising to see him so calm after what transpired over the past few days.

If anything, I thought it was a welcoming change.

Cerberus took his spot next to me near the edge of the pool, and he also seemed to calm down after just having killed someone. His breathing became steady until he closed his eyes and drifted off into peaceful slumber.

I don’t get how either of these two can relax after all of that, but I guess I should be grateful that I’m not on either of their bad sides…

I took another peek at the Lycan King’s face, observing how peaceful he looked. Although the water was cold as ice, I still found myself being able to relax a little bit as I leaned my back against the pool’s wall.

The Fire Wolf… There wasn’t a lot of information I could find before I came here, but I know it’s something the Lycan King has lived with for quite some time.

I looked up towards a large section of the ceiling that was made of glass. The crescent moon shone brightly above us as its beams softly bounced off the water.

From what I was able to find out, the Fire Wolf can’t be satisfied, and it causes its host pain every day and every night.

I took a deep breath. Even though I don’t have a wolf, I can’t imagine that the Lycan King’s experience with it has been enjoyable so far… Especially with how irritable he’s been ever since we got here.

Figures why he’s so miserable and grumpy all of the time. I guess if I had an insatiable Fire Wolf that caused me physical and mental pain every day, I’d be just as pissed off as the Lycan King is…

My mind went back to the day we all arrived at his palace. Although I didn’t want to think about it, he burned Alice alive after she tried to shift into her werewolf form to kill him. In doing so, he burned me, too.

And while he had no reason to help me, he did. The ruthless and cold-blooded Lycan King used his precious blood to heal my burn injury.

I ran my fingers across my right arm where the burn marks should’ve been. I could hardly believe that my skin was soft like it never even happened.

The blood of a lycan has healing properties beyond what werewolves could only dare to dream about having. This stuff might as well be a national treasure, but here he is using it to save my life.

A small smile crept on my lips as I straightened my back so the Lycan King’s posture was more relaxed and comfortable.

He didn’t have to, but he did. So, I’m gonna have to admit that I’m grateful for his kindness. Which I’m pretty sure is a rare thing for him to even showcase.

A yawn escaped my lips after a while. Exhaustion was finally beginning to catch up with me after fear and worry kept me from getting a decent night’s rest.

As my eyes began to flutter shut, a sudden voice broke through my mind and startled me back into an alerted state.

“Ten days…” The voice whispered.

I became stiff again when the Lycan King began to stir from his sleep. He let out a groan as he immediately shifted into his Fire Wolf form.

The humanoid wolf looked down at me. “I finally get to see you with my own two eyes....”

His mouth never moved but I could hear him. I was too stunned to think of anything, let alone say anything back.

“You know what comes in ten days, right?”

I shook my head.

The Fire Wolf gave off a “hmph” before looking at me again. His bright, burning orange eyes never left me.

“You’re wolfless, aren’t you? Weak little thing. I didn’t realize cold water hurt your kind.”

How does he know I’m wolfless…? My eyes widened in disbelief.

“And you can hear me? Oh, this is going to be a lot more fun than I thought.”

I sensed a smile coming from the words he spoke and it wasn’t until I felt the water around us begin to heat up that I understood what he was trying to do.

I got myself out of the water and sat cross-legged at the edge of the pool. I watched as bubbled started to form in the water, almost as if it was boiling.

“Now it makes a lot more sense why the dog likes you, too. You can hear and understand both of us. That’s impressive–and I never say that.”

The Fire Wolf laughed as the boiling water began to die down. “Look, I know Zack’s a scary guy. Yeah? And I’m sure you don’t even want to be here, right?”

I nodded my head to both questions. The Lycan King was probably the scariest person I’ve ever met–and that was next to my dad. I didn’t want to be here but it’s not like I had much of a choice.

“Well, if you go to the west tower of this palace, you’ll find a nice little silver dagger. I’m sure you already know that silver is a weakness to werewolves, right?”

I nodded my head once again.

“Well, luckily for you, it’s also the one weakness a lycan has. We’re deathly allergic to that shit. All you have to do is go grab that dagger and come kill Zack. Easy.”

“Then you go home and live your horribly mundane life and worry about whatever young women worry about.”

I looked at the Fire Wolf with uncertainty and thought it was a trap. The more I looked into those burning orange eyes, I concluded that he was being serious.

If I even think about trying to kill the Lycan King, I’ll end up just like Anny or Alice. No, I’m not gonna risk it.

The Fire Wolf huffed. “Wolfless coward. You don’t have to do it now but just remember–ten days left.”

After he gave me the vague warning, the Fire Wolf shifted back and allowed for the Lycan King’s human form to take hold. I watched as he leaned his back against the pool wall and looked up at me.

“Get back in here. I’m not done resting.”

I nodded my head and sat back in the pool next to the Lycan King, amazed at how much the water cooled down. He laid his head on my shoulder again as he drifted off to sleep.

I thought about the Fire Wolf’s words as I began to relax. Why would he tell me to kill his host? What was his game?
