Rebecca Lee
Rebecca Lee
The Dukes Palace Hotel looked more beautiful at night with dim lights. Beatrice stepped into the hotel with a gloomy face, her right leg still ached after the incident she fell in the frozen canal of Giethoorn Village.
When she was about to use the elevator to the 5th floor and needed an access card to press the button, she just realized she didn't hold the access card to enter the hotel room.
She took the initiative to ask the receptionist if they could help her in. However, the receptionist for security reasons was reluctant to give the access card and asked her to wait for Luke Carter to come. Stupid her, she didn't have Luke's number!
With a grunt, she threw her body on the soft sofa in the hotel lobby. She felt so tired and her eyes were very sleepy. Suddenly she fell asleep with her head drooping on the back of the sofa. At that time, the classic clock in the hotel lobby was showing 9:00 p.m.
She was asleep in the lobby for almost 3 hours long.
12.00 pm,
Luke returned to the hotel with the oriental woman who was also staying there. They were walking together laughing, the oriental woman suddenly stopped and found the person who helped her take a picture with Luke this afternoon was fast asleep sitting in the hotel lobby.
"Oh my God! That's the woman we met earlier right? Does she also stay at this hotel? Why is he sleeping in there?"
Curious, she stopped and looked at Beatrice who was sleeping soundly.
Luke froze, he just realized he hadn't given her the access card. Since when had Beatrice been waiting for him? It must have been when he caught her eavesdropping on his conversation with Rebecca. That meant she has been waiting for him for almost three hours.
"You will come with me, right?"
asked the oriental woman as she turned to look at Luke who was still staring at Beatrice who was sleeping soundly and snoring softly.
Luke gasped,
"I'll catch up, I want to go to my room first, I have something to do before,"
he said suddenly becoming a little nervous.
"Then let's go to your room first, then we'll go to mine together!"
she suggested because she wanted to see Luke's room too.
Luke stammered,
"No!"
he said quite loudly because he was too surprised.
The woman squinted suspiciously,
"Why? Are you hiding something?"
Luke was at his wit's end, he would take care of Beatrice later.
"What? I don't understand what you're talking about, you know what? Let's go to your room!"
he said as he took the oriental woman's hand who was still suspicious, leaving Beatrice fast asleep in the hotel lobby.
Beatrice woke up, she squinted and was surprised that she had been asleep for a long time in the hotel lobby. she looked up at the classic clock hanging beautifully in the hotel lobby, it was 1.00 a.m.
'Oh my God, He isn't back yet! He's such a dick!'
She was really annoyed. She walked fast to the receptionist which was located a few meters from the lobby.
"Has Luke Carter returned to his room yet?"
she asked in French.
The receptionist who didn't see Luke tried to check the system,
"In our system, there is no check-in activity in that room Miss,"
replied the receptionist politely.
She returned to the lobby, stomped her feet a few times because she was totally annoyed. She really wanted to go back to her room and sleep well until morning. Day by day Luke's behavior was really outrageous. Should she just cancel their contract marriage plan?
But she couldn't bear to marry Old Man Wart!
She hit herself on the head in frustration. It crossed her mind to join the lottery! Maybe she could be the winner! But the chance was a thousand to one.
While she was busy arguing with herself, suddenly Luke appeared from behind, occasionally glancing back, afraid that the oriental woman would follow him.
Beatrice was surprised to see Luke appear from inside the hotel instead of from outside.
"You're such a dick! Just because you're paying for this hotel doesn't mean you can do whatever you want!"
She grumbled in a pretty loud voice.
Luke covered her mouth with his hand.
"Sssssssh! Keep it down! People are looking at us!"
he hissed right in her ear.
Beatrice pushed Luke away,
"Where's the access card?!"
She stretched out her hand with a curt face.
Luke handed her the access card, after which he planned to return to the woman's room.
Beatrice reached into her small purse and took out Luke's black card.
"Take this!"
She held it out to Luke, who took it with a strange and suspicious look.
"Remember, you owe the share room fee! Transfer the payment to this account!"
she handed Luke the paper with her account number on it.
"What the hell? You want to run away?"
he asked in surprise, he didn't know Beatrice was that annoyed with him.
She didn't answer and just walked towards the elevator in silence. Just as Luke was about to catch up and asked for an explanation, the oriental woman appeared before his eyes.
"You're not going back to your room? Aren't you going to take your laptop?"
she asked when she found Luke standing with a confused face in the hotel lobby.
Luke took a deep breath,
Shit!
He turned his head to look at the woman in front of him, Rebecca Lee the woman he loved the most refuse to marry him, if Beatrice ran away, he had to start from the beginning, looking for a future wife! If by the time his father stepped down from his chair he hadn't found a wife, he would have to accept that the CEO position would be occupied by his brother, Matthew and he knew his mother would be very disappointed about it.
"Luke, hey! Why are you silent?"
Rebecca waved her hand in Luke's face making him wake up and smile awkwardly.
"Becky, are you sure you don't want to marry me? I promise to free you to do whatever you want, you can travel the world, work wherever you want. The important thing is that you have to marry me first!"
he held her hand gently.
Rebecca took a deep breath, she was a typical adventurous girl. She loved Luke, but she didn't want to be tied down. She was the kind of girl who could date several men at once and not feeling guilty at all.
But with Luke everything felt different, she loved Luke and she knew that Luke loved her too. But since three years ago she had decided not to be tied to him. She wanted to be free like a bird that could land anywhere. Even a love couldn't hold her.
Her profession as an auditor for multinational companies made her have to travel the world and met so many handsome men, which she really likes alot. She changed men all the time without wanting to have a relationship with any of them.
Before Rebecca had time to answer Luke's words, from a few meters away Beatrice seemed to be walking dragging her suitcase towards the exit of the hotel. She passed Luke and Rebecca as if she had never seen them before.
Meanwhile Rebecca, who wanted to greet Beatrice, became reluctant, seeing her very curt face.
"That's the girl we met before right? She must be annoyed with her future husband, I think she's been sleeping here for a long time waiting for him,"
she said, staring at Beatrice's back who had disappeared behind the door.
Luke was faced with two difficult choices, he thought for a moment, then he let go of Rebecca's hand.
"I have to go, just go back to your room and I'll see you tomorrow morning!" he said quickly, he ran out to catch Beatrice who got into the taxi, leaving a big question mark in Rebecca's head who looked at him with a confused face.
'Who exactly was that girl? Why did Luke so panicked and ran after her?'
Rebecca immediately gasped, remembering the girl's spoke about going on vacation with her future husband, she walked hurriedly after Luke, but she was too late because he had already jumped on the taxi to catch up with Beatrice...
