THE CEO'S FAKE WIFE

Beatrice The Mercenary

Beatrice The Mercenary

"So where are we going, Miss?" asked the Taxi driver in Dutch. Beatrice was silent for a moment, she had absolutely no idea where to go that night.

"Wait a moment please,"

She opened her phone and looked for a nearby cheap hotel that has vacant rooms. After searching for a while and making the taxi driver wander aimlessly, she finally found a fairly cheap apartment around the Markt Bruges area.

In just 10 minutes, she had arrived in front of a 10-story apartment which was quite nice, though not luxurious.

She had just gotten off the taxi and was fixing her suitcase on the sidewalk when suddenly a hand touched hers, making her flinch. She didn't even notice that Luke had been following her from the start.

"What's wrong with you! You can't just leave!!" croaked Luke, holding Beatrice's one hand so she wouldn't run away from him.

But with all her might Beatrice jerked her hand away from him,

"We have nothing to talk about! Get out of the way!" she snapped as she pushed her way through Luke and walked briskly to the apartment.

Luke ran after her, then stood in her way again.

" I am sorry!" said Luke with an effort, because he really had to let his pride down.

Beatrice didn't answer and just stood staring curtly at the street which looked deserted because the clock was already showing 1.00 in the morning.

"We have to stick to the plan,"

he said quietly, afraid that Beatrice would yell at him.

She automatically turned to him and looked at him as if he was going to eat him mercilessly.

"What do you mean by 'Stick to the plan'? You met your ex-girlfriend and asked her to marry you! And if she rejects you, no worries! There is me as a backup, am I right?!

Even if I'm just your future contract wife, I also need reassurance!

I've sacrificed my itinerary to come with you! So what's gonna happen if you marry your ex, are you going to dump me, just like that? I have lost my time and my energy! Do you know how it feels?!" she raved at length until Luke couldn't refute at all.

Luke rubbed his face, confused.

"Okay, take it easy!

Listen to me, now you go back to Dukes' Palace with me, give me until tomorrow night, if tomorrow night she changes her mind and is willing to marry me, I will pay you the 'guarantee fee' right away.

But if she still doesn't want to, we'll go back to the plan."

he carefully explained, he was afraid that Beatrice would 'go mad' again.

Beatrice glared,

"What if in the middle of the way when we have agreed to get married, but suddenly your ex-girlfriend changes her mind and wants to marry you, will you still pay me or not?" she snarled still with her curt intonation, which was clearly someone who didn't want to lose her chance to get money at all. Because to her Business is Business!

Luke snorted,

'Such a mercenary!' he muttered in silence.

"Your father has a very very big debt! If we didn't get married why would I spend that much! Are you kidding me! " said Luke with a yawn, suddenly his eyes became very sleepy.

Beatrice sneered,

"Well, if you cancel our wedding plans in the middle of the way then you have to pay compensation of 500 thousand dollars! That's my last offer! Take it or leave it!"

She counted to five in her head, if Luke didn't answer right away she would just run to the apartment and leave him alone.

"Okay, Okay! Deal!"

He decided, having no choice. Beatrice took out her phone then opened the video camera and pointed the camera at Luke's face.

"Now tell me that you promise to pay me five hundred thousand dollars if you cancel our wedding plans halfway!"

Her brain worked very well.

Luke waved his hand,

"Do you need to do this ridiculous thing? Turn off that stupid camera!" he snapped turning his face away.

She didn't answer, she just sneered and walked slowly dragging her suitcase to the apartment.

'Oh God, she's really such a pain in the ass!!!!'

Luke had completely lost his mind.

"OK OK! Do whatever you need to do!" he cried desperately.

Beatrice smiled with her back still to him, then she turned around, put on her curt face again, and pointed the camera at Luke's face. "Say it!"

"I, Luke Carter, promise to pay compensation of five hundred thousand dollars to Beatrice Miller, if I unilaterally cancel our contract Marriage agreement."

She pressed the 'stop' button and grinned widely.

"Is that enough?!"

He glared at her in annoyance but she smiled in satisfaction instead.

"Go grab a taxi there! you're such a pain in the ass!"

he grumbled as he put his hands in his pants pockets, cold. He forgot to put on his coat before he left the hotel.

Beatrice who saw Luke was cold felt sorry for him, she hurried to the side of the road and waited for a taxi. Minutes later a Taxi arrived and took them back to the Dukes Palace Hotel.

"Don't say anything to Rebecca about our contract marriage, remember that clearly!"

said Luke suddenly when they were already in the hotel room.

Beatrice, who had just put down the suitcase, furrowed her brows in confusion.

"So what do you want to explain to her? She must be asking questions tomorrow about what happened tonight!"

Luke glanced at her in annoyance,

"Just say you're my girlfriend!"

Beatrice immediately snorted in amusement,

"It doesn't make any sense at all! If I were your girlfriend, how could I just sit there watching you hang out with her! You even stopped by her room! There is no girlfriend in the world who would react like that when his boyfriend met his ex!"

With one swift movement, she took off her coat, took a change of clothes, and went into the bathroom.

Luke thought hard, what should he explain to Rebecca!

Their contract marriage must not be leaked to anyone. It could be dangerous for the CEO nomination.

"Okay, let's just tell her that we're doing a duo traveling, say her that we've known each other for a long time in America and that yesterday I asked you to pretend like we don't know each other because I don't want her to get jealous, that's a smart idea, isn't?" he said lightly, at that time Beatrice was already lying on the bed while playing on her cellphone.

"And the scene where you chased me out of the hotel, what excuse would you use for that?"

she asked nonchalantly, still staring at the phone screen.

Luke frowned,

"Just tell her that you're angry because I give you the access card, so you were mad and left!"

"But you're chasing me, weren't you! Why were you trying to chase me? It doesn't make sense! Especially for people who have known you for a long time, they must know what kind of people you are!"

He fell silent again,

'Shit! It's so complicated!'

he grumbled silently, he looked at Beatrice who was playing with her cellphone like she didn't really care about his problem at all.

"Well I'm going to tell her that I'm starting to like you, so I don't want you to leave!" he said sounding a little serious, making anyone who heard would think he wasn't bragging.

She immediately stopped typing on her phone, then took a glance at her,

"What if she gets jealous and angry?"

He smiled broadly,

"That's good though, maybe that could be the reason for her to marry me!"

She snorted,

"JUST DON'T FORGET TO PAY ME! PUT THAT IN YOUR MIND!"
